Finnish Scottish Society – 1 year old!

Hi everyone! With all the preparations for our upcoming cèilidh, our anniversary has passed us by without note.

Last week we were 1!

In the past year we have been mentioned in the Scottish Parliament, held a Saint Andrew’s Day cèilidh, set up this website, held our first AGM, held a Burns Supper, had a beer tasting at BrewDog Helsinki and a pub crawl – with another one to come! We also met (virtually) with the Cabinet Secretary for Culture, Tourism and External Affairs to discuss the Scottish Government’s view on issues surrounding the impact of Brexit on Scots living in Finland.

Oh, and we organised a family day and bake sale where we all fell in love with Michelle’s millionaire’s shortbread

There have been missed opportunities and some mistakes made too. However, we feel we can congratulate the Society and all its members for making this first year all that it has been!

We want to thank all of you who have volunteered your time and talents to make all of this happen. Here’s to all the forthcoming years!

P.S. Get yourself to the upcoming pub crawl and cèilidh!!
