The Finnish Scottish Society warmly invites you to our 2023 Saint Andrew’s Day Cèilidh to celebrate Scotland’s national day!
Our first Saint Andrew’s Day Cèilidh in 4 years takes place on Saturday 9th December from 18:00 to 23:00 at Käpylän työväentalo, Vipusentie 19, Helsinki. Doors open at 18:00 and the cèilidh begins at 18:30.
For the uninitiated, a cèilidh (meaning “visiting, visit” in Gaelic) is a traditional Scottish social gathering with lots of folk music, dancing, food and drink. The ticket prices include entry to the event, food and refreshments (the food includes vegan/vegetarian/gluten free options).
The evening’s entertainment includes performances by Helsinki Pipes and Drums (link) and lots of dancing to the music of the Helsinki Cèilidh Band (link). Don’t worry if you don’t know the dances as our dance caller, Jim Irving, will explain the steps to all the dances. Just bring yourself along and have fun!
Dancing is NOT compulsory. Kilts and tartan are encouraged, but there is no dress code. There are a limited number of children’s tickets available and, due to the nature of the event, children under the age of 7 are NOT permitted to attend the cèilidh.
We look forward to seeing you all there! Slàinte mhath!
Please include the FIRST and LAST names of EACH guest you are buying a ticket for when making your booking. There are no physical tickets and all guests are signed in at the venue on the night. Please also include information on any special dietary requirements.
Once you have made your booking you will receive an automated email from “Finnish Scottish Society” with details of how to transfer your payment to our bank account. Once the payment is confirmed in our account you will also receive a confirmation email. These emails may go to your email spam folders, so please check there also. If you do not receive these emails, please contact us at [email protected]
No refunds. Contact the Society via [email protected] if you wish to transfer your ticket to someone else. Ticket transfers are not allowed after 7th December as we will be setting up the event after that date and will not have time to keep track of them.
