The Finnish Scottish Society warmly invites you to our 2023 Saint Andrew’s Day Cèilidh to celebrate Scotland’s national day!
Our first Saint Andrew’s Day Cèilidh in 4 years takes place on Saturday 9th December from 18:00 to 23:00 at Käpylän työväentalo, Vipusentie 19, Helsinki. Doors open at 18:00 and the cèilidh begins at 18:30.
For the uninitiated, a cèilidh (meaning “visiting, visit” in Gaelic) is a traditional Scottish social gathering with lots of folk music, dancing, food and drink. The ticket prices include entry to the event, food and refreshments (the food includes vegan/vegetarian/gluten free options).
The evening’s entertainment includes performances by Helsinki Pipes and Drums (link) and lots of dancing to the music of the Helsinki Cèilidh Band (link). Don’t worry if you don’t know the dances as our dance caller, Jim Irving, will explain the steps to all the dances. Just bring yourself along and have fun!
Dancing is NOT compulsory. Kilts and tartan are encouraged, but there is no dress code. There are a limited number of children’s tickets available and, due to the nature of the event, children under the age of 7 are NOT permitted to attend the cèilidh.
We look forward to seeing you all there! Slàinte mhath!
IMPORTANT
Please include the FIRST and LAST names of EACH guest you are buying a ticket for when making your booking. There are no physical tickets and all guests are signed in at the venue on the night. Please also include information on any special dietary requirements.
